Job summary

A Civil Engineering Manager oversees and coordinates civil engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role involves managing teams, liaising with stakeholders, and providing technical guidance to ensure the successful execution of infrastructure projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Execution:

Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets.

Oversee the design and construction of civil engineering projects such as Buildings, and finishing works  

Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.

Team Leadership:

Manage and mentor a team of engineers, architects, and technicians.

Assign tasks, monitor progress, and evaluate performance.

Foster collaboration among cross-functional teams.

Stakeholder Coordination:

Liaise with clients, contractors, government authorities, and other stakeholders.

Address concerns, provide progress updates, and negotiate project changes.

Technical Oversight:

Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and calculations.

Conduct risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies.

Ensure quality control at all stages of the project.

Budget and Resource Management:

Manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness.

Allocate resources efficiently to meet project deadlines.

Monitor expenses and address budget overruns.

 

Reporting and Documentation:

Prepare detailed project reports for stakeholders.

Maintain accurate documentation of project activities and decisions.

 

 

Educational Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field (preferred).

Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (preferred).

 

Experience:

 

At least 6–10 years of experience in civil engineering, including 3–5 years in a managerial role.

Proven track record of managing large-scale infrastructure projects.

 

Skills:

 

                1.            Technical Skills:

                •             Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD, Primavera, SAP2000).

                •             Strong understanding of structural design, construction methods, and materials.

                2.            Leadership Skills:

                •             Ability to lead and inspire a team of professionals

                3.            Project Management Skills:

                •             Expertise in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.

                •             Familiarity with project management tools like Microsoft Project or Primavera.

                4.            Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

                •             Strong verbal and written communication for interacting with clients and teams.

                •             Ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

 

Legal and Professional Requirements:

 

Clean background and ability to work on government or international projects (if required).

Membership in a recognized engineering body (e.g., ASCE, ICE).
